New chocolate bars: 100% cocoa and 85% cocoa Pure Origin Peru

In 2021, the fine chocolate range produced by Kaoka, a fervent defender of organic and ethical chocolate for almost 30 years, welcomes two new dark chocolate bars:

  • the dark chocolate bar 100% Cacao, a pure cocoa mass (no cocoa butter and no added sugar) for lovers of the taste of raw cocoa beans.
  • the dark chocolate bar 85% Cacao, for lovers of intense chocolate.

The cocoa for these two organic and fair trade bars comes from the latest program created by Kaoka in Peru.

Behind these bars : the history of an exemplary program

 

In the region of Ucayali in Peru, an area formerly controlled by drug trafficking, a group of pioneer cocoa growers came together with the desire to cultivate quality cocoa while preserving a particular ecosystem, named the Colpa de Loros.

The beginnings were difficult. In search of a reliable partner, they met Kaoka and a synergy naturally fell into place. Kaoka helped create the “Colpa de Loros” cooperative and provided the financial support necessary for its development. It then underwent spectacular growth and became the country’s 11th largest exporter in 2018.

Peruvian cocoa provides a smooth and fruity chocolate. Its cocoa-like character is sublimated by delicate citrus notes and fruity overtones of hazelnut and raspberry.
