Description

Cocoa from São Tomé, a wild island preserved from the rest of the world, offers a chocolate with fresh and dried fruit aromas enhanced by deep woody and cocoa notes. This unique character, specific to the island’s cocoa, will delight all chocolate lovers (even those who usually prefer milk chocolate!).

All Kaoka® dark chocolates have a unique character linked to their origin. This chocolate is made from Amelonado cocoa beans from our organic and fair trade São Tomé cocoa program, certified BIOPARTENAIRE®.

Since arriving in São Tomé in 2001, Kaoka has supported growers to help them relaunch cocoa production that had been abandoned for years. They were able to renovate their old plantations and finally make a decent living from growing cocoa. The São Tomé plantations thrive in the heart of the island’s forests. These are natural agroforestry systems, rich in biodiversity. For over 20 years, Kaoka and its partner growers have been working to protect them.

In this bar, the cocoa and sugar—100% of the ingredients—are fair trade.

Advice

Proper chocolate tasting is done in stages using all your senses. Start by observing the chocolate, touching it, listening to it, then smelling it. Finally, taste it to discover its texture and perceive the flavors. Check out our chocolate tasting guide.

Store away from moisture and heat, between 15 and 18°C. If stored inappropriately, chocolate may become white. This natural phenomenon has no impact on your health.
